It’s been an interesting couple of weeks, especially because there’s been no swimming, well actually if I’m being honest there’s been plenty of swimming it’s just that in true Binge style I haven’t done any.
Things are a bit quiet at home because I am also currently Teenage Triathleteless having inflicted her on some good friends in Baltimore for 5 weeks. ( I’m acutely aware that there’s a very high risk that they won’t be my friends come the end of July) but so far so good (despite the 12:30am FaceTime Call!)
So with no ties I spent my time today, somewhat predictably at work and swimming. The big dilemma was where do I swim, Gateshead and Whickham session’s too early, and after no training for two weeks I decided that an hour session would be preferable to a 90 minute flog so I headed off to Durham Tri’s session. I’m not a regular there so I slotted into the second lane.
Much to my suprise I really enjoyed my swim, my fellow lane mates were good company and put up with my continuous wingeing and moaning, they even accepted my manipulation of the turn around times without any comment, (probably as grateful as I was of the extra rest) well if you want to sprint or at least in my current state of fitness, change your pace then you need a tad more than 10 seconds rest.
EMSC 4.0 has obviously been undertaking a course in sadism as at first glance this seemed to be a pretty straightforward session but oh am I aching now. So much so that I’m now in bed watching True Detective on catch up TV, (does anyone understand it? and is it worth sticking with?)
