So at 4:15 this afternoon I clocked up five thousand seven hundred metres to finally complete my mile a day challenge …. it’s only taken me six years to crack.
The last few sessions this week were definitely “billy no mates specials” unimaginative yardage garbage designed to simply crunch through the metres.
Today was almost derailed by snow and a morning in Durham nick but I escaped and negotiated a road block ( caused by a tractor crash) to make it to the pool.
I had planned to swim half of my final outstanding 5700m today and finish it off over the weekend but I started with the mind numbingly boring 2000 metre straight swim which is now my go to “pretendy” warm up.
And then once I’d finished the first mini Hungarian I thought I might as well keep going and before I knew it I was swimming down (well just for a little bit)
So this is how I signed off 2017
- 2000 metres 38 mins
- 400 free @ 7:40
- 2 x 200 free @ 3:45
- 4 x 100 free @ 1:55
- 400 free @ 7:40
- 2 x 200 free @ 3:45
- 4 x 100 free @ 1:55
- 400 free @ 7:40
- 2 x 200 free @ 3:45
- 4 x 100 free @ 1:55
- 100 swim down
- 5700 metres
Of course I now have approximately 48 hours to work out what the plan is for next year, I think that there should be less garbage yardage and maybe more “neater metres” in 2018.
So have a great new year and I’ll see you in 2018 when I reveal the new Binge plan.
Cheers Binge
