So how was your Valentine’s day? I hope it was more exciting than mine as I spent my evening thrashing up and down a pool how sad is that?  The cumulative fatigue from 14 consecutive days of swimming is building up quite dramatically assisted by a rather taxing gym session this morning.

I haven’t mentioned in this blog the fact that for the last 6 months I’ve been regularly attending the gym at our local leisure centre under the watchful eye of a PT who of course will be referred to as EMPT 1.0.

I can say that the sadistic streak in EMPT 1.0 makes all of my Evil Mutant Swim Coaches looks like pussy cats. He is able to cause me pain in unimaginable ways and it has taken some getting used to. At our very first meeting he asked me to do some press ups, suggesting that I could do them off my knees, I assured him I could do them properly and managed 5, “one more” he encouraged “that was my one more” I grunted as I collapsed in a sweating gasping heap.

consett-lc-14-13-36-1024x640Today was a leg session (yuck) which consisted of an infinite amount of various squats and lunges and finishing up on the bike.

Anyway back to the pool and EMSC had a bit of a theme going on last night which carried over to tonight with the huge (or to use a Trumpism) yuge main set in two parts.

I can say that the term “hard” was rather aspirational as at this point in the February Fitness Challenge I’m entering the survival phase.
