After yesterday’s “broken woman” gym session I found myself hobbling around the office with my glutes screaming, it didn’t get any better when I dropped in for a swim this evening.
Each time I tumbled and pushed off the wall I suffered an exquisite pain in my derriere. I was literally living up to my reputation as a proverbial pain in the arse.
The agony didn’t stop me from grinding out another 3k towards my total and to 75% of the February Fitness Challenge.

It was a busy session and although Claire was sciving, my new best buddy Sharon turned up, so the two of us tackled Evil Mutant Swim Coach’s fiendish session. There was a bit of a moment as I went to overtake her and she hadn’t realised I was there and moved across to snaffle the space I was about to swim into.
I have to say that for all there was meant to be some change of pace this set was all about survival and simply keeping going.
Although I still haven’t quite finished off the swim every day in February stint, my next swimming ambition is to turn up at a major international swim meet with a semblance of fitness.
So I entered the World Championships last week and hope between now and August I’m able to keep this swimming lark going.
