Binge’s blogging intentions didn’t last very long did they? (a matter of three days to be exact) but she has kept up the swimming lark and completed a pretty solid 27,250 metres this week. So the February Fitness Challenge is still on track and barring accidents and adverse weather interventions it looks as if it should be a successful completion including over 100,000 yards. Last year’s FFC was somewhat spectacularly derailed by the “Beast from the East”, which closed both of our local pools on the 27th and 28th February. On a Fool’s Errand Binge fought her way, rather unwisely through the encroaching blizzard, and should’ve taken the hint when she twice missed a turning off the Jolly Drover’s roundabout as my car simply refused to drive forwards much preferring to slide sideways around the roundabout and back in the direction she had come from.

2019 is shaping up to be just a bit different; starting with the weather. You might have noticed that since Monday ,we have been blessed with some rather unseasonable weather. Whilst this has not quite opened up the prospect of outdoor swimming, Binge has managed a fair bit of outdoor driving this week,

….and her trip to the Newcastle Sunday sesh this afternoon was simply glorious, fabulous sunshine, top down, music blasting, drove the whole way with a massive grin on her face.
Even the prospect of a 4.5k session (which followed hard on the heels of a 6.4k effort on Saturday and a 2.2k sprint session on Friday) wasn’t sufficient to dampen her mood.
I’m beginning to think that all of this water time might be starting to pay off, as although it wasn’t particularly swift, this afternoon’s graft was pretty smooth and steady and our girls’ gang (lanes 4 and 5) were all working well together settling into a nice groove. I set out below the weekend’s efforts there was a lot of yardage garbage.
